FAQ
First $1,000, quick answers
What should I do with my first $1,000?
It depends on three things: whether you have high-rate debt, whether you have any emergency cushion, and whether your job offers a retirement match. The standard order: a small buffer, high-rate debt, the match, a full emergency fund, then long-term goals.
Should I pay off debt or save first?
Both, in order. Keep a $500 starter buffer so a surprise doesn't go on a card. Then put extra money at any debt charging 20% or more. After that, build the emergency fund to three to six months of expenses.
Does this quiz tell me what to invest in?
No. I'm not securities licensed, and the quiz never names an investment. It covers the order of the basics and points you to the tools to run your own numbers.
Is my answer saved?
No. The quiz runs in your browser. If you share your result, the link only carries which plan you landed on.
