Asheboro is the county seat, and your doctors may be in two directions

Asheboro is the county seat of Randolph County and the medical hub for the county. Randolph Health, at 364 White Oak Street, is the hospital in town, and Cone Health HeartCare has a cardiology office at 542 White Oak Street. Folks drive in from Ramseur, Liberty, Franklinville, and Seagrove for shopping, for doctors, for just about everything. If you are on Medicare anywhere in Randolph County, Asheboro is probably where a lot of your healthcare happens.

Because Asheboro is the county's medical hub, network questions here cut both ways. If your doctors are all in Asheboro, most plans built for this area will cover them fine. But if you see specialists in Greensboro or High Point, that is where people get surprised. A plan can be great for your Asheboro doctor and still treat your Greensboro cardiologist as out of network. Check before you commit.

I am Christian Brinkley, a licensed insurance agent in North Carolina. I help people across Randolph County, including Archdale, Randleman, Liberty, Ramseur, Trinity, Franklinville, Seagrove, and Staley. We can meet at your home or talk by phone. You talk to me, not a call center. It is free, and there is no obligation to enroll.

What a meeting looks like in Asheboro: bring a list of your doctors, including any specialists in Greensboro or High Point, plus your prescriptions and the pharmacy you use. I check each one with you for next year, so you see what I see. If a plan you are considering drops one of your doctors, you know before you sign anything, not after.

If you would like a second opinion from someone who does not sell insurance, North Carolina's SHIIP program offers free, unbiased Medicare counseling. Call SHIIP statewide at 1-855-408-1212, Monday through Friday. I am glad to help before or after you talk with them.

Randolph County also has a lot of folks who have been on the same plan for years without ever rechecking it. Plans change their drug lists and costs every year, and the plan that was perfect three years ago might not be anymore. For a fall review, bring your current plan's Annual Notice of Change and your prescription list. Twenty minutes, free, and if your plan is already fine I will tell you so.

If you are turning 65 in Asheboro and still working, bring your employer coverage notice and the date that coverage is expected to end. Ask your benefits administrator how the employer plan coordinates with Medicare before you cancel anything. Your seven-month Initial Enrollment Period runs around your 65th birthday, and I can map out your exact dates with you.
